We’re barely into the new year, but this is the point in winter when we’re tired of the cold and can’t wait for the sunnier spring months ahead. With April showers and May flowers comes next season’s best styles and everyone’s brilliant interpretations. So here’s our 2013 jewelry trend report to help kick-start your spring-time wardrobe planning.
The overall theme for Spring 2013 is bigger is better. After a 2012 year of minimalism, we were oh-so-glad to see bigger-than-ever baubles on the runways at Oscar de la Renta, Chloe, Balmain and Lanvin. Pile on the pizazz in shoulder-grazing grand hoops, shapely cuffs and structured statement necklaces. We’ve picked out a few pieces
You can go over-the-top in an understated way. Just take cues from Stella McCartney and Chloe and slip into large Lucite. This Lucite cuff by Ben-Amun is everything and perfect for any spring ensemble. We’re also obsessed with that designer’s Lucite link necklace, which is right on trend for spring for so many reasons.
Balmain’s shoulder pads got even more massive this season, and to compete, larger-than-life silver hoops swung from lobes. You can get a similar neo-80s inspired look in these Yochi coin large hoop earrings. Over at Dries Van Note, matte silver belly-gracing chain link necklaces adorned necks and silver cuff rings accented bright plaids. Snatch up Argento Vivo’s silver snake ring, Mixology NYC’s large pod double-finger ring and Heather Moore’s sterling silver long link chain necklace to update your metal collection.
Nothing will be too bold this spring. From Prada to Dolce & Gabbana, color and texture are IN. Even the new year’s gold take includes a colorful gild with polished metal that feature bright accents, like beads (as we saw at Chloe). Keep up in Meghna Designs’s Maharaja colorful bib necklace and Kenneth Jay Lane’s ruby oval beaded chandelier earrings, and go Prada-like floral in Andrew Hamilton Crawford dark blossom ring and Nicki Jean’s blush rose jade bracelet.
