It’s All in the Strands: The Art of Layering
Posted July 10th, 2008

Though the trend of layering necklaces has been acknowledged as one of the best ways to spice up your wardrobe for a number of seasons, the way celebrities are wearing it now continues to be both trendy and cutting edge. The trick to balancing and perfecting this look is to decide on a theme and select pieces accordingly.

Actress Mena Suvari wore three necklaces on her day out on the town. One has gorgeous irridescent chunky green beads, the other has an open circle design and an amber colored diamond pendant, and the necklace with the shortest length has a small charm. The combination of these beautiful necklaces look great against her sunkissed skin. Copy her laidback, girl-next-door, chic style with the Calico Juno Turquoise Necklace, Lisa Stewart Leaf Pendant with Mother of Pearl, and Arena CPH Nada White Agate Necklace.

Kelly Rowlands, former member of Destiny’s Child, played up a nautical theme. One of her necklace’s chunky red beads looks sensational paired with the dark blue strand necklace and its gold anchor pendant, and her dark blue tank top. Think her nautical theme is cute and spunky? Try the Kenneth Jay Lane Exotic Wood Necklace with the Jami Rodriguez Ahoy Charm Necklace.

And Sarah Jessica Parker was the epitome of glamour and intrigue as she walked down the red carpet in April with these eye-catching gems. She mixed gold chain necklaces with chunky vintage gemstones and pearls, and the effect was that it made her blue eyes sparkle. Take a page from Sarah Jessica’s style book and slip on either the R.J. Graziano Sunburst Necklace or the Lisa Stewart Wrapped Pearl Hoop Necklace with both the Wendy Mink Tiered Necklace and Sogoli Multi Style Gold Chain Necklace for instant possession of that je ne sais quoi that will dazzle everyone.

Trend Alert: Gladiator Heels
Posted June 23rd, 2008

gladiator_heels1.jpg

This spring, celebrities and smart shoppers traded ballet flats, peeptoe sandals, flip-flops, and wedges, all survivors of fads from other seasons, in for the latest trend: gladiator-style sandals. The sandals came in many different styles, but there were some commonalities. The soles of the sandals had either virtually no heel or only an inch and a half. The straps wearers wrapped around their feet gave the illusion that the wearer had quite literally stepped into the shoe. These gladiator-style sandals which are reminiscent of Gladiator, 300, Troy, and ancient Greek culture have an undeniable charm. Can you imagine our delight when starlets traded in the flat sole style for heels when they attended award shows and strolled across the big screen.

While the low flat style sandal is perfect during the day, the high heeled style is classy and sensational at night, and wearing a fad to a formal event is only something a true fashionista can pull off. She pulls it off by knowing how to update the style, put her own original spin on it, and coordinate it perfectly with the rest of her outfit. Hilary Duff kept her look hip with a gorgeous draped lightweight strapless bright blue dress. Her look was fun and summerish, and she didn’t upstage her heels with too many accessories. You can capture a similar effect with our Lorelei Isa Baby Croc Golden Clutch purse. Gwenyth Paltrow kept things simple and understated with a cuff around her wrist that matches her heels - try our Tracy Matthews Smooth Small Cuff for instant style!
