Look of the Day: Styling off the Runway
Posted July 30th, 2008

Deciding which dress to slip into for a summer party shouldn’t be what’s first on your mind. The summer’s the best time to relax and go with the flow as much as possible. When it comes to accessorizing your outfit, you can take this advice to heart even more. The right jewelery should flatter your outfit and enhance your look. If you take a beautiful draped dress like this one from Alberta Ferretti’s Resort 2009 Collection and pair it with the perfect jewelry, you’ll feel as stunning as you’ll look.
Presh Gold Chain Citrine Hoop Earrings have a beautiful eye-catching design that will easily make you the center of attention. We love the chain embellishment on the interior of each hoop, and the beautiful citrine gemstone only sweetens the appeal of these hoop earrings. If you’d like to add a splash of color, try one of Presh’s other hoop earrings, the Presh Gold Chain Aquamarine Hoop Earrings.
Alex and Ani Gold Euphrates Beaded Expandable Wire Bangles are perfect if you’re feeling like being flirtatious because these are the type of fun bracelets that will strengthen your confidence. The Kenneth Jay Lane Gold Flower Ring has the undeniable allure that will make your friends lust over your ring and admirers to drift closer. There’s nothing a girl loves more than feeling beautiful and this gorgeous 18k yellow gold ring does just that so well.
The Rebecca Norman Disk Necklace is extremely stylish, and the necklace’s design also manages to be unusual, something we love about our jewelry. The textured surface of the gold vermeil nekclace infuses an outfit with a bit of intrigue, something that will do wonders for a dress like this one by Alberta Ferreti. There are so many ways that you can incorporate a piece of personalized jewelry into your outfit, and layering it with a similar necklace will create a cool effect. Pair the Rebecca Norman necklace with this personalized Emily & Ashley XS Monogram Necklace. The 14k yellow gold monogram pendant is so elegant and beautiful you’ll find yourself reluctant to take it off at the end of the night.

Runway Inspiration: Fall 2008 Couture Collections
Posted July 29th, 2008

Couture. That word alone sparks a fire in every fashionista’s heart. Once the latest couture collections arrive, you start lusting after the incredibly hip and cutting edge dresses on the Ellie Saab runway and turning your head away from one Chanel skirt and jacket set to focus on the upcoming ones becomes a battle. The appeal of couture fashion is undeniable and we can’t help but fall inexplicably head over heels for these spectacular creations. This summer, designers from revered fashion houses like Alexis Mabille and Christian Dior premiered glimpses of their fall 2008 couture collections. Each of the collections had their own distinct tone and flavor, but we noticed a few trends, and we have assembled a guide to a handful of jewelry that will lessen the ache you have for those candy colored Dior dresses.

We were so inspired by the fashion we saw on the runway during the couture shows that we decided to pull out some of our favorite jewelry designs to show you that couture isn’t really about the dress or the rest of the outfit; it’s about how you dress. Craving elegance at your next big party? Drop earrings are so chic and elegant that they add a dash of glamour to every outfit. The Arena CPH Barbie Silver Earrings, Melinda Maria Etched Triple Leaf Earrings, and Brian Danielle Diamond Long Earrings are perfect examples of earrings that will deliver on that promise. The Wendy Mink Telly Earrings have a truly spectacular design. While these aren’t typical drop earrings, the effect of a double hoops that suspend pastel semi-precious stones has quite simply stolen our breaths away.
Take inspiration from the Givenchy couture model above who paired her outfit with a sometimes forgotten or underplayed accessory, a headband. We forgot how fun it is to wear your jewelry in unexpected places. For a fun twist, pull your hair back into a messy bun and add the Blu Royalty Headband. Since you can choose between navy, black and teal, there’s no reason why you can’t start building your outfit from a headband.
We found a good deal of cuff bracelets and pearls on the runway during the couture shows, which is great because we’re not ready to let go of these accessory staples. Jessica Elliot Silver Wrought Iron Cuff is so stunning! The innovative clover cutout design is so fabulous, and this cuff bracelet is the perfect width. Pair it with the Anna Beck Sterling Silver Large Basket Weave Drop Necklace to complete your outfit, but if you’re loyal to gold jewelry or simply need a gold cuff bracelet for your next big occasion, look no further than another one of Jessica Elliot’s designs, the 18k gold vermeil clover cutout cuff.
We’ve been fans of the R.J. Graziano Long Pearl Chain simply because of its unusual eye-catching gold chain link design between the pearls. The 36″ chain is the perfect length if you love to double your necklace strands. Pair the pearl necklace with the Pade Vavra Large Shell and Pearl Cluster Necklace for a stunning contrasting effect that will be unforgettable. Necklaces with a beautiful flawless pendant is one of today’s biggest fashion trends, and we feel the Brian Danielle Hammered Diamond Necklace is one of the trendiest and most versatile necklaces we carry. It’s one of those pieces that looks stunning under both sunlight and the streetlights. Even if you’ve limited yourself to simply gazing at couture creations from afar, there’s no reason why you can’t indulge yourself a little bit and acquire jewelry that would fit right in on the runway as well as at your next black tie party.

Destination: Resorts
Posted July 23rd, 2008

We love the fall and spring lines designers produce effortlessly twice a year, but we have our reasons for falling head over heels for the resort collections too. The Resort 2009 collections are spectacular this year. It’s versatile and chic, and the abundance of lightweight fabrics are perfect for the warm weather. It’s not a stretch imagining going to a Hamptons Barbeque, a Jersey Shore bonfire, a Miami club, the casino in Vegas, a shopping trip in Quebec, or the office in any one of these beautiful Resort 2009 designs. Designers infused the runway with colorful classic and edgy designs. 3.1 Phillip Lim and Missoni took the classic shift dress and added a punch of color and a gorgeous structured pattern that added intrigue to the outfits. Marchesa’s ethereal quality on the runway was embodied in the light blue swirl maxidress pictured. The abundance of color on the runway for these shows prove our favorite designers had fun taking different color palettes, putting together unexpected color combinations on paper, and seeing their dream designs through to the end.

A splash of color in your jewelry is perfect during the summer, and taking some risks where that is concerned is always a good thing to do. The Marcia Moran Blue Quartz Ring is a sensational eye-catching cocktail ring. Whether you wear it to impress during the day or at night, the rich sapphire color of the blue quartz will look alluring along with the rest of your ensemble.
Anna Beck Set of 4 Stackable Rings is trendy and versatile; whether you’re looking for a cool silver or warm gold accent, you have the option of wearing either of the Anna Beck rings, and if you’re feeling inclined to, wear both for a beautiful contrasting effect. The Presh Gold Chain Citrine Hoop Earrings are as edgy as the new Resort designs. The classic hoop earring is reinvented with three chains spanning its interior and a citrine gemstone suspended directly into the center of the hoop. You’ll really shake things up with the gorgeous Jami Rodriguez Tangled Three Hoops Earrings. We love how the delicate hoop shape is repeated twice. The effect is a twist on both the hoop earring and the drop earring styles that’s stunning.
We love the texture of the Tracy Matthews Small Hammered Cuff. It looks great with spaghetti strap or strapless dresses, like the Ralph Lauren model’s dress. Try the Leila Floral Bangles for a fun patterned touch tonight. You can choose between the four styles and match it to your outfit of choice. The Brian Danielle Multi Stone Necklace is fantastic! The shiny luster of the pearls, and citrine, amethyst, and topaz gemstones is undeniably mouth-watering. The necklace captures the light and beautiful spirit of the Resort 2009 designs in a wonderful way.
Turn heads in all of the jewelry we’ve suggested. These phenomenal jewelry designs are perfect for this summer when your true destination is: relaxation. Go there and indulge in these Marcia Moran, Anna Beck, Presh, Jami Rodriguez, Leila, Tracy Matthews, and Brian Danielle designs. We promise you’ll have a vacation to remember!

Large hoops. Celebrities love them and designers adorn their models with these fabulous accessories. So why are you waiting? Runway Jewelry Dazzles Paris and Milan
Posted July 9th, 2008
The spring collections designers sprinkled the runways of Paris and Milan with had more color and unexpected twists than we’ve seen in a while, and the excitement it’s generated is contagious. What was noteworthy this season was that a handful of designer houses included jewelry in their collections. The models stepped out onto the runways bejeweled with impressive, attention-grabbing jewelry. The bigger the better is the rule, and it seems that designers could not resist it this year. The necklaces, earrings, bracelets, and brooches that made it down the runway were of spectacular quality and had eye-catching, lust-worthy designs. And at the end of the day, the jewelry pieces carried each show as much as the clothes!

The Balenciaga Spring 2008 collection featured structured and trendy floral minidresses and dresses and pantsuits in metallic hues. The accompanying jewelry suit the styles perfectly. The model for the Balenciaga collection balances her sage green dress and ankle boots with chunky gold bracelets and a multi-strand gold necklace. Coordinating the colors and styles of your necklaces and bracelets generates a cool sophisticated vibe, and combining pieces from different designers can make this effect delightful. Pair the Carolina Diamond Moon and Star Necklace with the Kenneth Jay Lane White Beaded Chain for the perfect sweetheart look, and stack the Melinda Maria Pod Cuff, Tracy Matthews Double Ribbon ID Bracelet, and the Lisa Stewart Gold Gem Bangles to spice things up.
The word that best describes the essence of the John Galliano’s Spring 2008 collection is fanciful. The gorgeous springtime colors matched the petals and stems of your Valentine’s Day roses perfectly. The fabrics of the dresses and pantsuits were light and loose. Every one of the models looked as if they were going somewhere fabulous, and were tempting us to wonder where. But the beauty of the collection lies in the possibilities each stunning creation posesses. The Leila Square Pendant and Ribbed Enamel Rings come in bright playful colors that are as free and light as the inspiration of the collection. Look no further than the Jill Jacobson Pearl and Floral Collage Necklace for this model’s Galliano look. The beautiful necklace’s appeal is its unexpectedly charming mix of pearls with gold jewelry.
Color combinations like royal blue and white, yellow and gray, and coral and black cropped up in Marni’s Spring 2008 Collection, yet it worked in a way we’ve never seen before. The loose fabrics swayed and moved easily as the models strutted their stuff in platform stilettos and colorful handbags on their arms. Take inspiration from this fun daring collection and embrace color once again. Ettika’s neon orange Horse Shoe Cuff has that exciting punch of color we know you crave, and Blu’s Neon Bangle Set has such a wide variety that you might find yourself reaching for one of the bangles everyday. The flower trend from the spring continues to be fabulous, and you can draw inspiration from the beautiful flower cuff bracelet in this detail of the Marni model, and wear the Kenneth Jay Lane Gold Flower Ring with a smile on your face.
