Posted July 30th, 2008

Deciding which dress to slip into for a summer party shouldn’t be what’s first on your mind. The summer’s the best time to relax and go with the flow as much as possible. When it comes to accessorizing your outfit, you can take this advice to heart even more. The right jewelery should flatter your outfit and enhance your look. If you take a beautiful draped dress like this one from Alberta Ferretti’s Resort 2009 Collection and pair it with the perfect jewelry, you’ll feel as stunning as you’ll look.

Presh Gold Chain Citrine Hoop Earrings have a beautiful eye-catching design that will easily make you the center of attention. We love the chain embellishment on the interior of each hoop, and the beautiful citrine gemstone only sweetens the appeal of these hoop earrings. If you’d like to add a splash of color, try one of Presh’s other hoop earrings, the Presh Gold Chain Aquamarine Hoop Earrings.

Alex and Ani Gold Euphrates Beaded Expandable Wire Bangles are perfect if you’re feeling like being flirtatious because these are the type of fun bracelets that will strengthen your confidence. The Kenneth Jay Lane Gold Flower Ring has the undeniable allure that will make your friends lust over your ring and admirers to drift closer. There’s nothing a girl loves more than feeling beautiful and this gorgeous 18k yellow gold ring does just that so well.

The Rebecca Norman Disk Necklace is extremely stylish, and the necklace’s design also manages to be unusual, something we love about our jewelry. The textured surface of the gold vermeil nekclace infuses an outfit with a bit of intrigue, something that will do wonders for a dress like this one by Alberta Ferreti. There are so many ways that you can incorporate a piece of personalized jewelry into your outfit, and layering it with a similar necklace will create a cool effect. Pair the Rebecca Norman necklace with this personalized Emily & Ashley XS Monogram Necklace. The 14k yellow gold monogram pendant is so elegant and beautiful you’ll find yourself reluctant to take it off at the end of the night.

Fun Under the Grecian Sun with Mamma Mia!
Posted July 22nd, 2008

mammamia.jpg

Mamma Mia! premiered this weekend in theaters bringing in a cool $21 million, and it’s been the most talked about musical-movie since last year’s Hairspray. The ABBA infused musical - each of the musical numbers is a recreation of 80’s pop dance group ABBA’s hit songs - takes place on a small Greek Island. Meryl Streep plays Donna, the mother of 20 year old bride-to-be Sophie, Amanda Seyfriend of Mean Girls.  Sophie’s always wanted to be escorted down the aisle by her father, and although she has never laid eyes on him, she wants that dream to come true. She reads her mother’s diary and invites three of the men she dated with the hope of discovering her true father. It’s a lighthearted cute musical about holding on to what counts the most and falling in love all over again.

Greece is alluring because of its perpetual summer. The fashion style that’s emerged in that region is enriched by the good food, sparkling blue water, and plentiful sunlight. In all of the Mamma Mia!  scenes the cast is sunkissed and glowing.  We’ll show you how you can infuse your life with a bit of the magic and transport Greece, love and happiness into your jewelry box.

Look as radiant as Sophie does by the sea in a sapphire outfit and delicate gold jewelry. The Arena Copenhagen Lonia Gold Heart Necklace has a sweetheart charm that’s perfect to pull an outfit together. Add the Arena CPH Lova Gold Heart Studs for a nice finishing touch, and you’ll be radiant. GK Designs Live Love Laugh Dream Charms necklace is a great alternative that will make your appearance even more appealing. The message of the necklace is embodied in the heart, peace, horseshoe, “dream,” and “Live Love Laugh” charms, and it’ll inspire you everyday.

Donna’s free-spirited personality is reflected in her jewelry. The chunky cocktail rings suggest she’s down to earth and playful. The Melinda Maria Hammered Ring and Rebecca Norman Turquoise Ring will look you. Meryl Streep’s character Donna glows in her chandelier earrings in the last screen shot. Either the Calico Juno Rio Chandelier Earrings or the Jami Rodriguez Tangled Hoop Chain Earrings will make you glow too!

The Sky’s the Limit
Posted July 17th, 2008

There are all sorts of looks you can create, so long as you’re willing to take some risks. What happens when you dabble with silver jewelry, flirt with gold and gemstones, and go all out with all three? Well, for one thing, you’re going to have a chic look that’s totally you. Are you ready to shake things up?

silverlayout1.jpgThe allure of Sterling Silver is: the versatility of the surface’s cool shiny luster, and our extensive collection of Silver Fashion Jewelry is so fantastic we’re sure you’ll find something you love. The great thing is that when you’re selecting your jewelry, you don’t have to stay within one brand and you can scroll through several brands’ silver jewelry designs at once and mix and match different pieces.

Jennifer Zeuner Sterling Silver Serpent Charm Bracelet is a stunning piece for your look, and matches the Exhibitionist Sterling Silver Pave Snake Earrings perfectly. Lisa Stewart’s vintage Silver Teardrop Necklace  great when you add one of Christie Martin’s Old English Initial Necklace. If you have a second piercing, the Arena Copenhagen Love Silver Heart Studs will soften your look.

goldpinkberry1.jpgIf you’re wearing gold jewelry, soften your image by adding colorful gemstones to the mix. Kacey K’s rose and yellow gold Two Tone Monogram Ring has the sort of appeal that’s glamorous and charming. Rebecca Norman Pink Tourmaline Teardrop Earrings have a delicate appeal, and the pink tourmaline gemstones will sparkle alongside the rose gold of the Kacey K ring. One, two, three, four, it’s up to you how wear it. The funky hammered Gorjana Gold Square Stackable Rings are bring just the right amount of spice to this look. Add the Jessica Elliot Gold Iron Ornate Lariat and the Jami Rodriguez Tangled Nature Necklace for an unusual layered necklace look, and the Rebecca Norman Gold Bangle Set to complete the ensemble.

Feeling bold? Don’t be scared to skirt the rule of mixing silver with gold. This is one rule that was meant to be broken. If you see 2 gemstones on different designs that look good, go for it and make it work! Playing with fire and knowing you won’t get burned has never been more fun.mixed-collage1.jpg

Pair the Kacey K Cutout Single Letter Gold Mongram Necklace with the Arena CPH Malil Necklace to get a look that’s put together and chic. Personalized monogram pendants look great with gemstones. The Exhibitionist Sterling Silver Serpent and Pyramid Stone Ring is an impressive sturdy ring that will finish your look with quite a bit of style, and it will look great with the Tracy Matthews Marquise Faceted Bracelet. Add a playful element with one of Jessica Kagan Cushman’s quote bangles. Her “Never Give Up,” or “I Want to Be the Girl with the Most Cake” bangles might be exactly what you want for tonight. Designer Interview: Rebecca Norman
Posted July 17th, 2008

blog-717_designer-interviews.jpg

From gorgeous hoops to chunky stone rings, Rebecca Norman’s jewelry collection is a unique treasure. A native of Taiwan, Rebecca Norman recalls her earliest inspiration came as a 10-year-old, when her father took her to see the crown jewels in London. Not long after that incident, Rebecca Norman became obsessed with jewelry. Years later, during a craft fair for students, Ms. Norman realized she could pursue her dream wholeheartedly: her entire table was sold out within two hours! This was a sure indicator of future success. Her college education then provided her with knowledge of jewelry manufacturing and jewelry design. Rebecca Norman’s jewelry design finally started off after college, when she began selling her work in galleries and street fairs, building up a small group of collectors and taking it from there. The rest is history.

Whereas we once loved the beauty of her jewelry, we now appreciate Ms. Norman’s achievements, together with her designs, even more! Rebecca Norman looks toward the ocean and good food, family and friends for inspiration. With her simple lifestyle, Ms. Norman believes in “owning less, but owning the best quality products.” Advice like this is great to follow and its no wonder this clear mindset has taken her down the road of success. In order to better understand her exquisite work, we decided to ask Rebecca Norman a few questions:

Max & Chloe: Can you describe your favorite piece of jewelry from your childhood?
Rebecca Norman: My mother had a beautiful mother of pearl bracelet from the sixties. It was very mod and very cool.

M&C: Have you always wanted to design things?
RN: I have always wanted to make things and when you make things you tend to design them in a way that fits in to your own esthetic and comfort needs.

M&C: Have you ever expressed yourself through another path apart from jewelry design?
RN: Yes, earlier in my career I designed home accessories – swizzle sticks, coaster holders, picture frames and napkin rings and today I also design a collection of hand stitched clutches in leather and metal.

M&C: What is your favorite creation?
RN: In college I made a ring that featured bronze and silver stripes with a giant pink tourmaline and the whole thing was about 2 inches tall. It was absurd and I have never forgotten it!

M&C: How would you describe your jewelry?
RN: Modern, organic, comfortable, well made, unique.

M&C: Who do you admire? Has this helped you in your career path?
RN: I admire Ted Muehling a lot. I don’t know much about his business or his background but it seems to me that he has always been true to himself as a designer and maintains his independence and vision.

M&C: Where do you travel to?
RN: My parents live in Australia and my sister in Amsterdam so I travel to see all of them at least once a year. I also go to Mexico once or twice a year. I love the people, the food, the art, and the culture of Mexico.

M&C: How did you prepare yourself for the business and marketing aspect of your company?
RN: It was very much a learning process as I was never formally trained in this area but I was eager to learn as much as I could and now I work with people who help me those aspects of my business.

M&C: What is the most important thing you have learned about who you are since you’ve started to pursue your dream of designing jewelry?
RN: The designing part of my work has always been a joy but being able to build a successful business has been a big challenge and knowing that I was able to do that while staying true to myself gives me a lot of pride in my work and in my company.

M&C: How would you describe your ideal jewelry?
RN: Something you love and don’t want to take off.

M&C: What is your favorite piece of jewelry?
RN: At the moment I am rocking a set of 3 hand forged 18k gold bangles with diamonds in them and pairing them up w/ a chunky crystal ring, both from my collection.

M&C: What is your favorite trend?
RN: The movement toward quality, handmade products. Not just in jewelry but in our everyday lives.

M&C: What do you hope to accomplish as a jewelry designer?
RN: I hope to continue expressing myself and taking my business to new and exciting places.
