The Hamsa Trend
Posted July 8th, 2009

madge.jpg

In brighter spirits since her divorce, Madonna is pictured here leaving an event. Yes, the trendy blazer and fedora caught our eye, but we also noticed Madge wearing a hamsa necklace. For those not “in the know,” the hamsa symbol is said to ward off the evil eye and offer protection. We have looked to Madonna for fashion and music trends in the past (ie: the iconic wedding dress at MTV Video Music Awards performance for “Like a Virgin”) and once we saw Madonna wearing the hamsa we knew she was onto something special. Madge has been an advocate for sporting interests close to her, Kabbalah bracelets alike, and has now added hamsa to her list. Luckily, many of the designers available at Max and Chloe have accessories boasting the hamsa charm.

Similar to Madonna’s necklace, the gold plated Ettika Lace Hamsa Necklace features a turquoise stone, perfect to warding off the evil eye. The crisp detail in this necklace is unmatched, and we love the unique paring with the stone for a bit of flair. If you are looking for a silver version of the hamsa necklace, try Brian Danielle Diamond Evil Eye Hamsa Necklace. This silver diamond necklace features sapphire stones, which are ultra posh and very unique. Not only will the hamsa charm stand out, but the sapphires will attract a flurry of compliments.

Since we can’t get enough of stackable bracelets and beads, Sydney Evan Wood Bead Hamsa Bracelet, Blu Bijoux Silver Hamsa Bracelet and Ettika Lace Hamsa Wrap Leather Bracelet are perfect paired together or separately, mixed with other bracelets and bangles from Max and Chloe. With different styles and colors to choose from, adding a hamsa bracelet, necklace or pair of earrings to your ensemble is easy and affordable. We can’t wait to see everyone rocking the hamsa charm! Don’t forget to follow @MaxandChloe on Twitter for the latest trends, blogs and exclusive sales!

In Focus: The Price of Gold
Posted June 30th, 2008

The price of gold has been rising in the past year, making our favorite jewelry staple less affordable. The Commonwealth Bank has just anticipated that the price of gold will continue to fluctuate until September. With the US dollar in the state that it is and the price of gold rising, it’s time to find alternatives, in order to protect our pocketbooks and our fashion sense.

Ettika offers a multitude of casual and fun designs, from Hamsa necklaces to peace sign rosaries.

For bangle lovers, Blu’s Neon Bangle Set is an extraordinary display of eye-catching, technicolor style. These bangles are the perfect summer accessory and can be paired with a cute summery dress or used to dress down evening attire.

Another elegant substitute for gold is silver. Christie Martin’s Silver Graffiti Ring combines the best of both worlds: the elegance of silver with the youthfulness of graffiti type. This ring can also be personalized.

With so many great alternatives to gold available, it’s hard to understand why it takes the crisis of rising prices in order for us to explore unusual jewelry!

Spotlight On: Ancient Greece
Posted June 26th, 2008

Put on your Greek sandals and plunge into the Greek fervor this summer. Feel the cool breeze of the Greek islands as you adorn yourself with beautiful pieces that are reminiscent of ancient Greece.

The Evil Eye:
Become a local by donning this traditional charm: the Evil Eye. Worn to ward off evil and harm, this charm can be found all over Greece, as well as Turkey and the Middle East. Although this symbol is known to protect against the Evil Eye of envy, wearing it will only make you the center of attention! We offer many variations of the Evil Eye by Ettika, including Hamsa bracelets, Evil Eye cuffs and Evil Eye leather bracelets.

The Phaistos Disc:
One of the famous archaeological mysteries of Greece, the Phaistos Disc has been recreated on jewelry time and time again. It is a classical Greek symbol and must-have when it comes to interesting jewelry. Ettika’s representation of the Phaistos Disc is priceless. Dangling from a gold chain, the coin-sized replica adds mystery and a cultured edge to any outfit. Flaunt your worldly knowledge by layering the Ettika Phaistos Coin Chain Necklace with your favorite charms from around the world. If you’re not a fan of necklaces, the design is also conveniently available on a fashionable bracelet.

Golden Leaves:
A symbol of victory and success, laurel and olive leaves were highly coveted in Ancient Greece. Become a Greek goddess with the Pade Vavra Gold Leaf Cuff. The leaf design is a gorgeous addition to any summer time outfit or elegant evening attire. This Greek-inspired cuff will only make you feel stronger and more beautiful. It’s as if the ancient Greek gods were smiling down on you.
