Graffiti Jewelry 2

Whatever your view is on graffiti– art or vandalism– you have to have at least a slight admiration for the graffiti artist. These people go out and put a message out to the world in as public a forum as possible, not to mention that they are usually incredibly artistically talented. We should mention that we are not referring to people who simply take a can of spray paint with the intentions of defacing public property with vulgar words. There are a whole slew of graffiti artists who use their art to provide social commentaries.

Take, for example, Banksy, the British graffiti artist who is known for his stenciled designs that often depict satirical views on issues. Many of his stencilings have been viewed as acts of vandalism and have been covered, but a great deal of his paintings have sold at auctions for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Maybe you can’t afford a Banksy original, but love graffiti as an art form. That’s where Max & Chloe steps in to help you out. We have a few pieces that have drawn their style straight from wall scribblings. As far as necklaces go, we have two by Christie Martin. The Graffiti Initial Necklace features a single graffiti letter charm, while the Sterling Silver Name Plate can be personalized with up to 15 letters. Jennifer Zeuner has the Graffiti Love Necklace that showcases the word “Love” in graffiti letters.

For something completely different, check out the Christie Martin Sterling Silver Graffiti Ring. This piece is unlike any other because the graffiti-style letters are actually carved out of the sterling silver band. It can be personalized with up to 8 letters so you can showcase your name, your initials, or perhaps a short mantra.

Posted July 17th, 2008

There are all sorts of looks you can create, so long as you’re willing to take some risks. What happens when you dabble with silver jewelry, flirt with gold and gemstones, and go all out with all three? Well, for one thing, you’re going to have a chic look that’s totally you. silverlayout1.jpgThe allure of Sterling Silver is: the versatility of the surface’s cool shiny luster, and our extensive collection of Silver Fashion Jewelry is so fantastic we’re sure you’ll find something you love. The great thing is that when you’re selecting your jewelry, you don’t have to stay within one brand and you can scroll through several brands’ silver jewelry designs at once and mix and match different pieces.

Jennifer Zeuner Sterling Silver Serpent Charm Bracelet is a stunning piece for your look, and matches the Exhibitionist Sterling Silver Pave Snake Earrings perfectly. Lisa Stewart’s vintage Silver Teardrop Necklace  great when you add one of Christie Martin’s Old English Initial Necklace. If you have a second piercing, the Arena Copenhagen Love Silver Heart Studs will soften your look.

goldpinkberry1.jpgIf you’re wearing gold jewelry, soften your image by adding colorful gemstones to the mix. Kacey K’s rose and yellow gold Two Tone Monogram Ring has the sort of appeal that’s glamorous and charming. Rebecca Norman Pink Tourmaline Teardrop Earrings have a delicate appeal, and the pink tourmaline gemstones will sparkle alongside the rose gold of the Kacey K ring. One, two, three, four, it’s up to you how wear it. The funky hammered Gorjana Gold Square Stackable Rings are bring just the right amount of spice to this look. Add the Jessica Elliot Gold Iron Ornate Lariat and the Jami Rodriguez Tangled Nature Necklace for an unusual layered necklace look, and the Rebecca Norman Gold Bangle Set to complete the ensemble.

Feeling bold? Don’t be scared to skirt the rule of mixing silver with gold. This is one rule that was meant to be broken. If you see 2 gemstones on different designs that look good, go for it and make it work! Playing with fire and knowing you won’t get burned has never been more fun.mixed-collage1.jpg

Pair the Kacey K Cutout Single Letter Gold Mongram Necklace with the Arena CPH Malil Necklace to get a look that’s put together and chic. Personalized monogram pendants look great with gemstones. The Exhibitionist Sterling Silver Serpent and Pyramid Stone Ring is an impressive sturdy ring that will finish your look with quite a bit of style, and it will look great with the Tracy Matthews Marquise Faceted Bracelet. Add a playful element with one of Jessica Kagan Cushman’s quote bangles. Her “Never Give Up,” or “I Want to Be the Girl with the Most Cake” bangles might be exactly what you want for tonight. Styling from the Inside Out
Posted July 8th, 2008

Jennifer Lopez stepped out in Madrid in a beautiful jewel-toned red Dolce & Gabbana dress two weeks ago. What we love about J-Lo’s style is the way she incorporates a little bit of herself and her personality in what she wears, and it shows! Clothes and jewelry that reflect who you are make you look good! Jennifer has perfected a personal style that has as much glam as bling pieces, and the mix looks effortless for her because it goes with her personality and musical background. She remains a chart-topping lady of hip-hop, R&B, and pop to this day, and her wardrobe shows that spunky side of her.

Take a cue from J-Lo and up your outfit’s glamour with cute silver hoop earrings like Arena CPH’s Silver Lona Hoops. No outfit is complete this season without a piece of jewelry that’s been personalized. It’s your way of wearing your name or initials or a word of personal value, and with so many options at Max & Chloe in our Personalized Jewelry corner, you can choose the one that’s really you. Christie Martin’s Old English Initial Necklace has your letter of choice in elegant sterling silver script you’ll love. Christie Martin’s Sterling Silver Grafitti Name Plate has the hip-hop vibe Jennifer Lopez rocks, and it can be yours too!

Jennifer isn’t afraid to mix and match different silver cuffs and bracelets for a cool combination, and you shouldn’t be either. Try Blu’s Diamond cutout Silver Cuff Bracelet and Textured Bangle, and at these retail prices, you can even mix it up by wearing multiple ones of each. Tracy Matthews’ unusual Silver Square Bangles set would be a perfect addition to your outfit, and they’ll definitely make onlookers do a double-take at your entire ensemble. And don’t forget a fabulous cocktail ring as the cherry on top of the sundae. CC Skye’s Vintage Inspired Cocktail Rings are eye-catching and alluring enough that they’ll steal the show, and the Kenneth Jay Lane Black Dome Ring’s Austrian crystal accent will dazzle everyone. You’ll be ready for anything when you step out oozing as much confidence, personal style and charm as Jennifer Lopez in jewelry that showcases the real you.

In Focus: The Price of Gold
Posted June 30th, 2008

The price of gold has been rising in the past year, making our favorite jewelry staple less affordable. The Commonwealth Bank has just anticipated that the price of gold will continue to fluctuate until September. With the US dollar in the state that it is and the price of gold rising, it’s time to find alternatives, in order to protect our pocketbooks and our fashion sense.

Ettika offers a multitude of casual and fun designs, from Hamsa necklaces to peace sign rosaries.

For bangle lovers, Blu’s Neon Bangle Set is an extraordinary display of eye-catching, technicolor style. These bangles are the perfect summer accessory and can be paired with a cute summery dress or used to dress down evening attire.

Another elegant substitute for gold is silver. Christie Martin’s Silver Graffiti Ring combines the best of both worlds: the elegance of silver with the youthfulness of graffiti type. This ring can also be personalized.

With so many great alternatives to gold available, it’s hard to understand why it takes the crisis of rising prices in order for us to explore unusual jewelry!
