Cuffs Like Coco Chanel
Posted April 5th, 2010

Michelle Roy Glam Rock Patent Cuff

Coco Chanel once said, “A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.”

She also said, “In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.”

The Michelle Roy Glam Rock Patent Cuff is all of these things— classy, fabulous and different— making it a perfect accessory for any girl.

Ironically enough, Coco Chanel, who was one of fashion’s biggest trendsetters, brought the cuff bracelet back into style during the 1930s by wearing her Maltese Cross cuff, designed by Duke Fulco di Verdura, on both wrists.

The Michelle Roy cuff is made sweet and classy with feminine touches like the golden flower and faceted crystals, while it is fabulous due to the patent covering, mesh and studs.

No matter how you describe the Michelle Roy Glam Rock Patent Cuff, you can’t ignore its uniqueness, and neither can others. It will be the focal point of your outfit and the focus of your conversations.  Pair it with a striped sailor shirt and skinny jeans, a little black dress, a floral number, and a multitude of other outfits. This bracelet has a little something for everyone.

Whether you have one on each wrist like Coco, or chose to let the cuff fly solo, it is will always be a reminder of the things you should be— classy, fabulous and different.

P.S. The Kenneth Jay Lane Enamel Royal Cuff are just like Coco’s!

Music Festival Chic: Tusks, Teeth, and Claws
Posted March 30th, 2010

musicfestivalchic_tusks-teeth-claws_e.jpg

Tusk, tooth and claw jewelry accents were are no longer for the surfer crowd. After Nicolas Ghesquière showed them on the Balenciaga Spring 2010 runway, the fashion set is channeling nature’s fierce creatures as well.

This tribal trend is bound to be seen everywhere on the music festival circuit this spring and summer. If you’ve ever looked at pictures from South by Southwest, Coachella, Reading & Leeds or Glastonbury, you’ve not only seen how the stars flock to them to listen to great new music, but you’ve also noticed how trends are started by young starlets and fashionistas for all to follow for the rest of the summer. Last year was all about the feather accents, but this year, tusks, teeth and claws might just win out.

These trends can be found on Max & Chloe starting at less than $100. At a lower price point is the edgy and fashionable Janna Conner Designs Gold Shark’s Tooth Necklace with an gold plated shark tooth and a garnet quartz briolette. There is also the Odette Yellow Gold Fox Claw Necklace and Allison Schiller Tibetan Bone Pendant Necklace.

On a higher scale is the Meira T Multi Charm Necklace featuring a hammered gold horn, .08 carats of dazzling diamonds, and a Love charm— channeling the ultimate music festival, Woodstock.

These natural nods toward the ferocity of nature pair wonderfully with slinky fringe vests, on-trend leather shorts, or denim of all types, but make sure to avoid wearing animal prints or you risk making the outfit look like a costume.

Monogrammed Jewelry: The Perfect Bridesmaid Gift
Posted March 22nd, 2010

West Avenue JewelryThe onset of spring means many things, including the beginning of wedding season. For many women this simply means finding the perfect dress to snag a groomsman, but for the lucky few, it means planning, stressing and eventually, getting married.

As the bride, don’t forget to thank the lovely ladies who helped you plan, unwind, and get married— the bridesmaids. The perfect bridesmaid gift should be personal, as beautiful as the wonderful helpers, and a keepsake from the wedding.  A wonderful and unique monogram piece from West Avenue Jewelry is all those things and more.

There are two different ways to personalize your bridesmaid gifts with West Avenue Jewelry. Brides can give their bridesmaids jewelry with the wedded couple’s monogram or they can give their bridesmaids jewelry with each one’s name on it à la Carrie Bradshaw’s “Carrie” necklace.

Going the route of the couple’s monogram would make the piece of jewelry extremely unique to the experience. All the ladies would have the same piece and every time they wore it they would be able to remember the wonderful moments and the wedding itself. On the other hand, buying each bridesmaid a name necklace would individualize the gift while still creating a sense of unity because each woman received a similar necklace to mark the occasion. The name necklaces are a little less traditional, and are great for younger bridesmaids.

No matter which path you tread, a monogrammed West Avenue Jewelry piece is a better memento than a sea foam bridesmaid dress, hands down.

What to Wear: St. Patrick’s Day Accessories
Posted March 15th, 2010

St. Patrick’s Day - Green Accessories

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner. Though it may be tempting to find a sexy leprechaun costume, carry a pot of gold or drink green beer, there are much less obvious ways to celebrate and remain stylish at the same time.

Simply change the shade: Instead of wearing bright kelly green so everyone knows you’re spirited, why not explore other shades of green? Make them green with envy by adding the naturally chic Deborah Grivas Designs Three Strand Green Turquoise Bracelet.

Go Green Beret: Pair a flirty dress or skirt with an army green anorak to create a nice girlie/utilitarian juxtaposition. If the military look isn’t your thing, other great colors to try are teal, jade or sage. Complete your statement-making ensemble with the fun and festive Erica Anenberg Lucky Clover Cigar Band Ring.

‘Go Green’ without wearing it: Celebrate St. Patty’s Day in a more metaphoric way. If you’re heading to work and have a big meeting, a completely eco-friendly outfit is a great trade off for a Kermit-colored green blouse. Tip the scales in your favor with the lucky Ettika Wishbone Medley Charms Silk Necklace.

If all else fails, wear whatever you want and tell everyone the color you’re wearing is ‘the new green’.

Be safe and have a happy, fashionable St. Patrick’s Day.

On the Red Carpet: Oscar-worthy Drop Earrings
Posted March 8th, 2010

Bounkit Amethyst and Green Onyx Drop EarringsAfter watching actress after actress glide down the red carpet in beautiful gowns and sparkly jewels, a girl can’t help but to start looking for her own Oscar-worthy jewels. The simplest way to add Academy Award-inspired glitz to your daily wardrobe is on the ears.

This year on the Academy Award’s red carpet, long drop earrings were seen on everyone from Rachel McAdams to Penelope Cruz. Drop earrings accent any up-do wonderfully, but look equally as beautiful peeking from beneath a mess of curls.

Not all red carpet glam has to be expensive, so why not look classically elegant with a pair of Carolee Linear Crystal and Pearl Drop Earrings. The pearls, underscored with a touch of sparkle work well in any situation. If you’re looking to add a pop of color, put on a pair of Bounkit Amethyst and Green Onyx Drop Earrings. Not only are the earrings stylishly colorful, but the purples amethyst makes them regal while the green onyx taps into the art deco trend brought back by Chanel’s Fall 2009 ready-to-wear collection. If all out glamour is what you want, then look no further than the Meira T White Moonstone and Diamond Cushion Earrings. Not only do these earrings tout diamonds, but their intricately molded gold frames are a great conversation starter.

Whether wearing a pair of drop earrings costing $50 or a pair priced at over $1000, you will wow like any old, or new, Hollywood actress when you wear them.
