Drew’s Dripping in Turquoise
Posted April 17th, 2009

Drew Barrymore

Who else but Drew Barrymore would attempt a look so daring as the one she was spotted sporting at the HBO premier of her movie Grey Gardens? Well, we have to hand it to Drew. As a woman who is not afraid of taking chances, she always comes out on top, be it with her entrepreneurial endeavors or her fashion.

On this particular night in Hollywood, Drew hit the bull’s eye yet again. Even though she’s always been known for her free-wheeling, flower-child ways, Ms. Barrymore took things to a whole other level. Opting for a dress that was more jewelry than dress, Drew was absolutely dripping in turquoise! From the bejeweled halter of her dress to her cocktail ring, she nailed the fun, flirty, fabulous trifecta yet again.

As soon as we saw her look, we decided that we had to recreate it: there was just no way around that. To begin, let’s start at the top. To mimic her massive neck-piece, we suggest the Gerard Yosca Turquoise and Pearl Necklace. Although this piece isn’t quite as large as Drew’s, it makes just as big of a statement. Next, slap on a Noir Turquoise Cuff to add even more of that greenish-blue hue to your ensemble. Finally, slip your finger through Rebecca Norman’s Turquoise Ring to round out the look.

We dare you to keep sunbeams from radiating from your face while wearing such vibrant jewelry. Just look at Drew Barrymore. Have you ever seen a person looking happier and more fierce? We can’t think of any. In fact, we would even pump our hair up to Barbarella heights to squeeze as much ferocity out of this look as we can!

First Lady Fashion
Posted April 1st, 2009

They say that behind every great man is a great woman.  As we’ve watched the elegant Michelle Obama’s every move, from her husband’s triumphant election to his celebrated inauguration, it is clear that the First Lady stands tall and proud, beside President Obama. And, as a woman whose choices and words are constantly under scrutiny, Mrs. Obama has proven to be a spectacular role model, as a family woman, a career woman, and most importantly, as a frugal fashionista who never skimps on style.

We’ve seen the lovely First Lady in an array of ensembles: the red and black Narciso Rodriguez election night dress; the White House Black Market dress seen on The View; the fabulous J. Crew yellow print shell/cardigan combo and white high-waisted skirt; and, most recently, the stunning Jason Wu cocktail number Mrs. Obama donned as she emerged from Air Force One in Europe yesterday.

Seen above, the President and First Lady met with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his wife Sarah Brown. While the G-20 summit meeting was on the agenda for President Obama, Mrs. Obama took the opportunity to visit Maggie’s, a cancer care center erected by Sarah Brown herself. The ladies looked classic and sophisticated, perfectly appropriate for the time and place.

Hot new items from Carolee and Brian Danielle will be sure to reflect your fashion savvy attitude, which is undoubtedly on par with the lovely First Ladies of the US and the UK. Brian Danielle Pink Amethyst Necklace is 17 carats of sheer luxury, wrapped in beautiful 14K yellow gold. Carolee has introduced some fantastic pieces from its LUX line, including the Austrian Crystal Hinged Bangle Bracelet, which is the epitome of a chic, sophisticated look at an affordable price. Pearls are a timeless classic; and Carolee offers pearls reloaded with the White Pearl Multi-Strand Bracelet. Simple isn’t out of style, however, as the sweet and sexy Single Strand White Pearl Choker clearly demonstrates.

The Obamas are scheduled to meet the Queen of England later today, and all fashion lovers’ eyes have fallen on Mrs. Obama. Will she bare her arms, as the original Fashionable First Lady Jackie Kennedy did? Or will she don previously publicized attire to promote the more humble consumer attitude? No one can be sure until she emerges at Buckingham Palace, but we’re positive she won’t disappoint!
