Handmade Earrings by Wendy Mink
Posted June 25th, 2008

You will undoubtedly be swept away by the delicate beautiful Wendy Mink beaded earrings we offer. These handmade earrings come in soft summery colors in unusual arrangements. Wendy Mink’s Miranda earrings have semiprecious magenta and green stones on gold vermeil. These gorgeous double teardrop earrings will brighten your mood when you wear them. The inner ring of the teardrop design has beautiful magenta beads strung onto the wire, framing a larger impressive green semiprecious stone that dangles from the middle of the piece. The combination is stunning and earrings like these will set all eyes on you.
The Peacock earrings by Wendy Mink have an abstracted peacock design of gold vermeil. You may be expecting bright colorful feathers to be the centerpiece of the design, but its absence make these earrings even more stunning. The feathers have been flattened out into simpler identical shapes that taper off at the ends, and they fan out from under its wings, and underneath that first flutter of feathers, there is another. The ends of the lower feathers are attached to beautiful rich blue and green beads that seem to suspend weightlessly in the air. At the center of the pattern of beads is a larger silver-toned semiprecious stone that does anything but weigh the piece down. Instead the break in the design and the absence of one more cheerful color grounds the design and is a reminder that a little deviation from the expected is always a good thing. We carry a sister Sunset Peacock earrings that sparkle just as brightly.
The lower beaded half of the delicate Moonshine earrings by Wendy Mink does look like half of a moon, and the part of the earring that has the clasp and supports the lower half creates a complete circle. Whatever the metaphor and meaning might or might not be, the design is sensational. The cluster of light green beads that are strung together draws the eye immediately. The clear semiprecious stones that dangle from the earrings offer balance to the arrangement in the Moonshine earrings. Our Pearl Moonshine earrings accomplishes the same effect, and the pearliness of the cluster of beads in the earring will remind you of moonlight.

Trend Alert: Gladiator Heels
Posted June 23rd, 2008

This spring, celebrities and smart shoppers traded ballet flats, peeptoe sandals, flip-flops, and wedges, all survivors of fads from other seasons, in for the latest trend: gladiator-style sandals. The sandals came in many different styles, but there were some commonalities. The soles of the sandals had either virtually no heel or only an inch and a half. The straps wearers wrapped around their feet gave the illusion that the wearer had quite literally stepped into the shoe. These gladiator-style sandals which are reminiscent of Gladiator, 300, Troy, and ancient Greek culture have an undeniable charm. Can you imagine our delight when starlets traded in the flat sole style for heels when they attended award shows and strolled across the big screen.
While the low flat style sandal is perfect during the day, the high heeled style is classy and sensational at night, and wearing a fad to a formal event is only something a true fashionista can pull off. She pulls it off by knowing how to update the style, put her own original spin on it, and coordinate it perfectly with the rest of her outfit. Hilary Duff kept her look hip with a gorgeous draped lightweight strapless bright blue dress. Her look was fun and summerish, and she didn’t upstage her heels with too many accessories. You can capture a similar effect with our Lorelei Isa Baby Croc Golden Clutch purse. Gwenyth Paltrow kept things simple and understated with a cuff around her wrist that matches her heels - try our Tracy Matthews Smooth Small Cuff for instant style!

Item of the Week: Canary Diamond Studs by Brian Danielle
Posted June 20th, 2008

It’s hard to ignore the insistent wise rule our parents and grandparents passed down because it was considered taboo. We were told to never mix silver with gold. However, rules do become outdated, and my grandmother never mentioned anything about mixing diamonds with gold. I wouldn’t like to think of wearing a pair of earrings like these canary diamond studs by Brian Danielle as mixing diamonds with gold. It’s about making a statement and wearing two of the best stones with style.
There’s something timeless about a diamond. Perhaps it’s the promise that it will outlast your children and even their children. Part of it has to be related to how Hollywood starlets glide down the Red Carpet bedecked in jewels, causing onlookers to stop and stare wistfully.
These stunning canary diamond studs are timeless and exquisite. The arrangement of the canary diamonds set in 14k worth of yellow gold then surrounded by a ring of white diamonds is stunning. These gorgeous canary diamond earring studs possess the potential to make you glamorous and stunning, and when you put these on, you will instantly feel beautiful. The beauty of a piece like this is that it will catch everyone’s attention, and everyone will admire this pair of stunning earrings.

This Just In: Jessica Kagan Cushman Bangles
Posted June 19th, 2008

We’ve just received a new assortment of Jessica Kagan Cushman’s fun bangle bracelets. Her trademark bangles are adorned with snippets of quotes extracted from pop culture to inspirational and funny sentiments. The bangles are handmade with antique scrimshaw, a technique her father Vladimir Kagan, a furniture designer, taught her. On her website she describes the words scripted in ink on the outside as falling “somewhere between a tattoo and a bumper sticker”.
Jessica draws on pop culture to bring back memories of everything we’ve experienced from childhood, with her Supecalifragilisticexpialidocious bangles, to the movie classic The Wizard of Oz, when she printed, “Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore,” on the outside of this set. All of the sayings are funny and witty, but the great catches are the ones that are sassy and have that flair of drama. “You’re not the boss of me,” isn’t what someone expects to read when they glance down at your wrist, and it will send the message that’s sometimes ignored, that only you are the boss of yourself. “You can agree with me or you can be wrong,” on this set might make the person who reads it pause and wonder if they are right after all.
The quotes aren’t the only words or symbols printed on the bangles. On the inside of each bangle, Jessica Kagan Cushman’s name is printed in capitalized letters, and on the outside, beside each quote, there’s a crown. The crowns are proof that these are fit for someone as fabulous as you, and with quotes like these, there’s something for everyone. The careful craftsmanship and the thought-provoking words are signs of a product that’s well-made and deserving to be a part of your jewelry collection. You cannot go wrong with any one of these bangles, and it’s truly up to you to decide how you wear these. That part of having a few Jessica Kagan Cushman bangles is as individualized as the ones you select. You can wear multiple ones at a time, mixing sassy catechisms and funny quotes, putting together the unexpected. It’s even possible to mix these bangles with some silver, gold or beaded jewelry for a terrific first impression.
Each of these Jessica Kagan Cushman bangles are available with either white writing on a black scrimshaw background or black writing on white scrimshaw. What you wear on your wrists will be unexpected and thrilling for your friends and family as long as you have a handful of Jessica Kagan Cushman bangles because her designs make getting dressed so much fun.
